The seven-part, 182-minute documentary series Sculptures of the Louvre carries viewers into Paris's most famous museum, for a rich tour of that institution's most famous works of art - from Ramses II to the Venus de Milo. The program studies each work both visually - with lengthy and protracted shots of the most celebrated paintings and sculptures on display - and contextually, via narration that discusses each work's significance within the framework of art history and its broader historical context. Each segment of the program highlights one work, with a total of seven covered. These include: The Slaves of Michelangelo, The Horses of Marly, The Venus de Milo, Bulls of Khorsabad, Cupid and Psyche, Ramses II and Mary Magdalene. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
